Sponsor a Child

Child Sponsorship

Our Orphanage in Haiti is a very important and vital part of this ministry. Sponsoring a child is an important part of our program. We not only help our children and the cost to care for them, but also to invite you to be a part of this ministry and their lives in a special way. Many of you already support this ministry and other ministries around the world. I am asking you to pray about adding another opportunity for God to be able to bless you and your household.

When you choose a special boy or girl to sponsor, you begin a relationship that can change lives, your’s and their’s. Not only do you get the satisfaction of knowing you are helping these children, but if you wish, you can send letters and gifts to your child. You will receive a picture and information about the child you choose. You will also receive regular updates on how your child is doing, along with artwork and letters whenever possible. One of my greatest joys is receiving letters and drawings from the children at the orphanage. Words cannot describe the joy it brings to know that you are making a difference in a child’s life. The older children enjoy sending and receiving letters from their sponsors. These children cherish the thought that someone cares enough to not only sponsor them, but to also take the time to write them. I encourage you to pray over the child you sponsor, they will pray for you on a daily basis.

When you become a child’s sponsor, you help your child to grow up in the warmth and security of a family with the love of a mother, father and siblings. We encourage you to have your own children (if applicable) write your sponsored child.

For only $35 per month, you can help subsidize the expenses such as food, clothing, school fees, medical care and the salaries of the people who love them and take care of them on a daily basis. In addition to your monthly sponsorship you may choose to bless them with gifts on their birthday or holidays. If you choose to sponsor one of the older teenagers, you may also send additional monetary gifts that will be set aside in a savings account for the benefit of the sponsored child. This extra money can help provide for their college education or start up money to help them start an independent life. In some cases it may be used in the event of a critical illness.

You will receive a photo of your child, and a welcome packet that will contain information about how to correspond with your sponsored child. You will receive 12 stamped/addressed envelopes to help remind you of your monthly sponsorship obligation.

Sponsorship Contributions:

Full sponsorship of a child is $105 per month. A sponsorship pledge of $35 per month will make you a part of a team for that child. You can also choose to make a one time donation to help with this ministry. Make your checks to Healing Hands International Ministries, Inc. and memo at the bottom your child’s name and support number, or one time gift.

If you cannot make a commitment of $35 at this time, we ask you to decide how much you can give. You can make a one time gift or choose to send a gift monthly, quarterly or on an annual basis. You decide what you can give.

God’s Hero in Nicaragua

Last month we traveled to Managua, Nicaragua with a team of 10 to minister to the children of Nicaragua. I have traveled extensively throughout the country of Haiti over the past 13 years. I thought I had seen the worst of the worst when it came to poverty! I witnessed things and places on this trip that were worse than any place I had been before. We teamed up with Samaritan’s International for this trip. They have been working in Nicaragua for several years setting up feeding programs for the children in the poorest sections of Managua and the surrounding areas. Approximately 18,000 children are fed in Nicaragua alone. The ministry provides the children with one meal a day for five days out of the week. They feed over 40,000 children daily in five different countries. Perry Brown is the founder of this organization and his goal is to feed 100,000 children. Healing Hands has teamed up with Samaritan’s International to help with this program. We are in the process of setting up a feeding program for the homeless and hungry children of Haiti. Samaritan’s International has agreed to supply the food if we will maintain and run the programs. This type of teamwork is needed in all areas of ministry. There is very little we can do on our own, but together we can accomplish great things throughout the Body of Christ.

As I watched Mr. Brown love on these children and the homeless, I thought that God must be looking down with a smile on His face. It’s men like Mr. Brown that make this world a better place. If there has ever been a hero born in this world, it is Mr. Brown. He is hero to at least 40,000 children around the world. Thank you Mr. Brown for the life long dedication to help others, especially the children. God has many rewards for your life. Not only has rewards for you in the life to come, but he has rewards stored up for you in this life also. He has seen your dedication, He has seen your sacrifices, and He will reward you greatly. Most men at Mr. Brown’s age are slowing down; I had a hard time keeping up with him. I pray I have his stamina, strength and wisdom when I reach his age! Mr. Brown is my idea of a true American hero. Psalms 41:1-3

Go ye into all the world!

Part of our team took a day of rest and relaxation and visited the downtown area of Managua. Patrick Brown, Ralph Sawh and I took the day to go up the mountain to minister to people in the poor mountain areas. We loaded our four wheel drive truck with as much food as it would hold. We went from house to house ministering to the sick and giving free food to the ones in need. We gave away approximately 6,350 meals in that one day. We left enough food for a week or two at some homes. Other homes were left with enough food for almost a month. There are several children in most homes. Their diet mostly consisted of cooked cabbage, beans, and dirty water to drink. We left them with a meal called Vita-Rice. If a child gets one meal a day of this product he/she will get all the vitamins and minerals they need for that day. It is an amazing product that has saved many children from starvation. At each house, Patrick would take the time to share how to cook the food for the family so that they could get the most from it.

What Makes it Worth the Trouble?

We visited many of the feeding programs through- out the Managua area in the few days we were there. I was wondering what would make a man like Perry Brown leave his comfortable home, his family and his business to come and help these people. It didn’t take long to figure it out. On the second day as we traveled to the different feeding kitchens, I walked into one of the small dining areas that was filled with small children. As I entered behind Mr. Brown, one of the small eight year olds shouted out, “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” It nearly brought me to tears. Mr. Brown turned to me and said, “ That’s why I keep coming back.” That’s what makes it all worthwhile. From my experiences with the children from Haiti, I knew exactly what he meant. There is no greater reward than when a child says “thank you” from his/her heart.

Thank You Pastor Mike & Penny Pastor Mike and Penny Merritt from Newnan Ga. traveled with our team for the first time. Pastor Mike and his church have played a major role in supporting Healing Hands International Ministries. I am also licensed and ordained through his church and Ministerial Association (Abundant Life Faith Center Ministerial Association). Pastor Mike and Penny went home with a new and better understanding of what this ministry is about. Pastor Mike also went home with a new desire to help the people of Nicaragua. Thank you Pastor Mike and Penny for being pastors that have a heart for missions. We have several pastors and churches that support this ministry. We encourage and invite you to come with us on a mission trip. We want you to see and experience first hand what your support means to us. Without you, the pastors, to encourage the people to give, we would have a difficult time raising the money we need to continue doing what God has called us to do!

Special Thanks To…

Dr. Lorrie Wheeler, Dr. Terri Andrews & Oak Hill Dental Group of Lake City, Florida. I shared with Dr. Wheeler about our orphanage and some of the needs of the children. Dr. Wheeler offered to provide (tooth brushes and a supply of toothpaste) and dental hygiene items. Oak Hill Dental Group supplied us with enough products to not only provide for our orphanage for several months, but we have been able to share the blessing with other orphanages and underprivileged children. Many of the mountain regions we travel in are in desperate need for these type of items. What little money they have is spent on food and normally not on personal hygiene items. (We assume that everyone has these luxuries just as we do.) We are so blessed to have friends like Dr. Wheeler, Dr. Terri Andrews, and their caring staff. If you live in the Lake City area, give them a visit and say “thank you” for our kids.

Haiti Orphanage:

Things are going great at our orphanage in Carrfour, Haiti. We have been blessed with healthy Children throughout this past fall and winter. God continues to bless Pastor Daniel & Majorie (directors of the orphanage). Majorie is pregnant with their second child. God blessed us when He teamed our ministry with this couple. They have provided a loving, caring and spiritual atmosphere for the children and workers. We are in the process of getting one of our containers out of port. This container has many items that you have donated over the past year. Everyone is excited and looking forward to getting these items unloaded. We are still in need of blankets, sheets (for twin beds) towels, washcloths etc.

If you have not sent in your pledge or offering to help with the purchase of the orphanage house, we would like to encourage you to do so. Our deadline of March 2008 is closing in very quickly. We know that God will reward you for helping with this need. Thank you in advance. Bro. Tim

Will you pray? Will you go? Will you send?

“I believe that in each generation God has called enough men and women to evangelize all the yet unreached tribes of the earth…It is not God who does not call. It is man who will not respond!” (Quote by: Isobel Kuhn, missionary to China and Thailand.

Take a stand this year and be faithful to give to this ministry. Help us go to the unreached tribes of the world. Help us feed the hungry children of Haiti and other third world countries. When you give to this ministry, you are also giving to other ministries around the world. We tithe to other ministries with the money you entrust to this ministry. We serve a big God and He has big plans for you and me. “The great commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed”.

Guyana Always Offers New Opportunities

If we are willing and obedient to the Holy Spirit He will lead us through new doors and give us many opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While attending Victory World Missions in Tulsa OK, the Holy Spirit began to show me certain areas this ministry would be involved in. The Holy Spirit is not always specific when He first shows you things to come. Most of the time He will show you bits and pieces of the lay out of your life or ministry. If He showed us the whole picture at one time it would scare most of us to the point of running and never stopping.

The Holy Spirit showed me this ministry would travel to seven different countries and share the Gospel. At this point I still do not know where or when the others will come into play. We must be obedient in the areas that he sends us and then He will use us in other areas and ministries.

The open door to Guyana has been such a blessing to me. This part of ministry has given me a peace and fulfillment that I cannot describe. God has opened the door to Venezuela and we are eager to go and be about our Fathers business. We have found the people of Venezuela to be a very kind and loving people. They have a need and a desire for the Gospel that you only see in a third world country. They will meet us at the rivers edge eager to help us in any way possible.

They live a lot like the Amerindians of Guyana. Most of their villages are located in swamps and their home are no more than poles stinking up out of the swamp with a few boards for the floor and no sides. Can you imagine living all your life in a small 15 x 15 hut with a thatch roof and no walls. No doors or windows to keep out the mosquitoes spiders or the elements of the weather. It is very hot in the day and can be cool at night. Most of the huts have no beds, maybe a foam mat and most just a blanket to lay on.

They have very little food and live day to day looking to the rivers and the rain forest to provide them with food. We take rice beans and flour to them when we go. But normally we are only there two or three times a year. Sometimes we may visit an area and it may be years before anyone goes back.

The people of Venezuela are desperate for Bibles in their native language (Spanish). We are in the process of trying to purchase Spanish Bibles to take to these forgotten people. We believe this door will be open only for a short time and we must work while we have light. Once the door is shut it will be up to the people of Venezuela to evangelize their people and the far remote tribal villages.

Some of the Mission groups working in the tribal areas have already be told to leave these regions by the Venezuela Gov. We must pray for this country and its people.
